SHORT HISTORY OF ATTENTION HOMES IN BOULDER, COLORADO, ILLUSTRATING PROBLEMS A COMMUNITY FACES IN DEVELOPING SUCH HOMES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT CAN EMERGE.
Abstract
ATTENTION HOMES ARE GROUP FOSTER HOMES FOR JUVENILES, ORGANIZED AND DIRECTED BY THE JUVENILE COURT, AND SUPPORTED FINANCIALLY BY LOCAL CITIZENS. THE AUTHORS STATE THAT THE TERM ATTENTION SIGNIFIES A STRUCTURED ENVIRONMENT THAT IS LESS RESTRICTIVE AND PUNISHING THAN JAILS. THEY DESCRIBE THE STEPS WHICH LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ATTENTION HOMES IN BOULDER.
