In their new book, Database Security and Integrity, being published by Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, the authors, all of whom are associated with IBM's Data Processing Division, include a chapter discussing auditing and controls which we have preprinted with the permission of the publisher.
Abstract
After considering the basic concepts involved, including the principles of control, the audit process, the effect of the data base environment and common types of computer fraud, the authors discuss control practices, the audit trail, techniques for auditing computers, principles for developing reliable systems, and DBMS support of audit and control.
