Abstract
THE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE GIVE STRONG PRIORITIES TO RESEARCH IN THE BEHAVIORAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCE AREAS, IN THE AREAS OF BOTH FUNDING AND OFFICIAL ATTENTION. SOME PROGRAMS RECOMMENDED ARE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN IN-HOUSE SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES CAPABILITY FOR CONDUCTING PILOT STUDIES AND MONITORING EXTERNAL RESEARCH, RETROSPECTIVE STUDIES, EVALUATIVE STUDIES OF ON-GOING PROGRAMS, AND AN INTERNAL RESEARCH INFORMATION RETRIEVAL SYSTEM.
