RESEARCH PROJECT OF A PILOT CITY PROGRAM, EXAMINING THE PATHS A JUVENILE MAY FOLLOW FROM INITIAL CONTACT WITH THE SYSTEM THROUGH RELEASE AND POSSIBLE REENTRY.
Abstract
THE FOCUS OF THIS REPORT IS ON THE ALBUQUERQUE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM, INCLUDING LAW ENFORCEMENT, THE JUVENILE COURT, CORRECTIONS, AND THE COMMUNITY. THE PAPER ILLUSTRATES THE USE OF NETWORK DIAGRAMMING, OR PROCESS FLOW CHARTING, AS A TOOL TO DESCRIBE THE FLOW OF JUVENILES THROUGH THE SYSTEM. MANAGEMENT OF THE SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO IMPROVE FROM AN INCREASE IN INFORMAL INFORMATION EXCHANGE AND STRONGER CONTROLS OVER EXITS. SEE NCJ 10120 FOR A SUMMARY REPORT OF PILOT CITIES RESEARCH PROJECTS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
