Abstract
"VALOR" is the acronym for "Preventing Violence Against Law Enforcement Officers and Ensuring Officer Resilience and Survivability." The VALOR Initiative provides federal resources for an effort to improve the immediate and long-term safety, wellness, and resilience of federal, local, state, and tribal law enforcement officers. The VALOR Initiative delivers no-cost training and professional education, funds research, develops and delivers resources, and establishes partnerships that benefit law enforcement officers. The intended outcome of the VALOR Initiative is to improve the physical and mental health of law enforcement officers, who are regularly exposed to dangerous and stressful experiences in the course of preventing and countering threats to public safety. Online access is provided to a fuller description of the resources available under the VALOR Initiative.
