Abstract
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEARLY ACTIVITIES ARE FIRST REPORTED. AMONG THESE WERE AN INCREASE IN THE INMATE PAY SCALE, CONTINUATION OF THE 'RIGHT TO READ' PROGRAM, THE INTRODUCTION OF DUE PROCESS ELEMENTS INTO THE PAROLE REVOCATION PROCEDURES AND DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMS, AND ALTERATIONS TO THE STATE USE BUILDING TO PROVIDE MORE VOCATIONAL TRAINING SHOPS. ACTIVITIES OF THE CUSTODY DEPARTMENT, PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT, SOCIAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, MEDICAL FACILITIES AND THE REHABILITATION COMMISSION ARE REPORTED. PRISON INDUSTRIES OUTPUT IS ALSO EXAMINED. FINALLY, SUCH AREAS AS STAFFS TRAINING, WORK RELEASE PROGRAMS, VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS, AND GIFTS OR DONATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. EAST ORANGE
