Abstract
The Child Protection Summit is a collaborative effort of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Child Welfare League of America, and the National Children's Alliance. The theme of the summit was the role of multidisciplinary teams to intervene in, respond to, and prevent child abuse and neglect. The summit included an interactive panel session on the challenges and successes of partnerships to improve child protection. To help facilitate strategy development, summit participants were split into seven breakout groups. Each group took on one of the following policy/program areas: (1) responding to child abuse reports; (2) building a community response to child maltreatment; (3) enhancing the professionalism of child abuse and neglect responders; (4) leveraging and sharing resources; (5) shaping legislation and public policy; (6) building strong interdisciplinary working relationships; and (7) partnering in the prevention of child maltreatment.
