AN INTERVIEW WITH A POLICE PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERT WHICH DEALS WITH THE IMPORTANCE, TECHNIQUES, SUBJECTS AND EQUIPMENT OF CRIME SCENE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Abstract
IN PURCHASING EQUIPMENT IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT AN EVALUATION OF THE NEED FOR THE EQUIPMENT PRECEDE CONSULTATION WITH A COMPANY FIELD REPRESENTATIVE ON THE BEST EQUIPMENT FOR THE MONEY. THE ROLLEIFLEX FOR BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY IS CONSIDERED THE BACKBONE OF CRIME SCENE PHOTOGRAPHY. THE 24MM WIDE ANGLE LENS AND 135MM TELEPHOTO LENS IS RECOMMENDED FOR PHOTOGRAPHING DEMONSTRATIONS, STAKEOUTS, AND CRIME SCENES. STANDARDIZATION OF EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS IS URGED, AND IT IS SUGGESTED THAT EVERY OFFICER IN THE SECTION HAVE HIS OWN KIT OF EQUIPMENT. PHOTOGRAPHING THE CRIME SCENE BEFORE IT HAS BEEN DISTURBED IS AFFIRMED AS THE CARDINAL RULE OF FORENSIC PHOTOGRAPHY. SIX TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL CRIME SCENE PHOTOGRAPHY ARE LISTED.
