THERAPEUTIC RECREATION CAN BECOME A MORE EFFECTIVE REHABILITATIVE PROGRAM WHEN INTEGRATED INTO THE CAMPUS PRISON AND COMMUNITY PRISON CONCEPTS.
Abstract
THE CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY PRISONS WILL AFFORD THERAPEUTIC RECREATION LEADERS A FULLER RANGE OF LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES TO OFFER TO INMATES, THUS BREAKING THE PATTERN OF STRICTLY ATHLETICALLY-ORIENTED PROGRAMS. THESE NEW PRISONS WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE FACILITIES AND DRAW UPON TALENTED VOLUNTEERS FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE SOCIETIES, THEREBY AIDING THE INMATES IN BRIDGING THE PRISONCOMMUNITY GAP AND BETTER PREPARING THEM FOR RELEASE.
