TRAINING INSTITUTES ON CORRECTIONS DURING COLLEGES' CHRISTMAS AND EASTER RECESSES ARE DESCRIBED.
Abstract
THESE INSTITUTES, DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS FROM METROPOLITAN NEW YORK AND NEARBY NEW JERSEY, WERE THREE DAY PROGRAMS EACH. TECHNIQUES USED, SCHEDULES, RECOMMENDATIONS, AND CONCLUSIONS ARE GIVEN. AMONG TOPICS COVERED WERE REVIEWS OF METHODS OF TREATING OFFENDERS AND THEIR SHORTCOMINGS, CURRENT REHABILITATIVE PROPOSALS, PROBLEMS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CORRECTION RELATING TO ALCOHOL, GAMBLING, DRUGS, AND SEX, AND THE USE OF GROUP THERAPY. 800 STUDENTS FROM 115 COLLEGES APPLIED FOR ADMISSION TO THE INSTITUTES, OF WHICH ONLY 125 COULD BE INVITED TO EACH.
