Abstract
STRONG POINTS AND LIMITATIONS OF THE VARIOUS SYSTEMS ARE DISCUSSED. ALSO REVIEWED ARE SOME OF THE BASIC INGREDIENTS OF A 'CODED' NUMBERING SYSTEM IN WHICH EACH CHARACTER OF THE RADIO CALL NUMBER HAS A SIGNIFICANT MEANING.
