DISCUSSION OF PROPOSAL TO SET UP A SEPARATE NATIONAL POLICE TRAFFIC CORP IN ENGLAND AND A REVIEW OF POLICE TRAFFIC DUTIES FROM THE MID 19TH CENTURY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR FEELS THAT A SEPARATE TRAFFIC FORCE WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE IN BOTH COST AND MANPOWER. HE SAYS, THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PRESENT SYSTEM IS DEMONSTRATED BY THE FACT THAT DESPITE THE EVER INCREASING NUMBER OF VEHICLES ON THE ROADS, THE NUMBER OF PERSONS KILLED EACH YEAR HAS REMAINED STATIC.
