THE EXPERIENCE OF THE TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH A NINE AND ONE HALF HOUR DAY, 4 DAY WORK WEEK.
Abstract
IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT A FOUR DAY WORK WEEK, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND OFFICER'S ASSOCIATION NEGOTIATED A NINE AND A HALF, RATHER THAN A TEN, HOUR WORK DAY. THE DEPARTMENT ALSO SURVEYED THE PATROL OFFICERS WHO WOULD BE AFFECTED BY THE CHANGE TO DETERMINE THEIR ATTITUDES TOWARD SUCH A PROGRAM. THE TORRANCE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS SATISFACTION WITH ITS FOUR DAY WORK WEEK.
