TRANSLATION INTO ITALIAN OF A THEORETICAL WORK BY A SOVIET AUTHOR ON CRIME CAUSES, THEIR EFFECTS (CRIME), THE INDIVIDUAL ON WHOM THE CAUSES ACT TO PRODUCE THE EFFECT, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF SCIENTIFIC PREDICTION OF CRIME.
Abstract
STATISTICS ON CRIME, OFFENDER CHARACTERISTICS, ETC., IN THE SOVIET UNION, ARE INCLUDED, FREQUENTLY IN THE FORM OF PERCENTAGES RATHER THAN ABSOLUTE FIGURES. ALSO INCLUDED ARE QUOTATIONS FROM MARX, LENIN AND ENGELS, AS WELL AS FROM SOVIET WRITERS ON CRIMINOLOGICAL SUBJECTS. THE AUTHOR STATES THAT WE DO NOT YET HAVE ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE TO BE ABLE TO PREDICT THE BEHAVIOR OF A SPECIFIC PERSON, BUT THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THIS WILL BE ACHIEVED. THIS IS TRUE BECAUSE, ACCORDING TO THE SOVIET PRINCIPLES OF DIALECTICAL MATERIALISM, THERE ARE NO PHENOMENA IN NATURE OR IN SOCIETY THAT ARE UNKNOWABLE. --IN ITALIAN
