Abstract
The directive provides standards and guidance for the organization, training, State certification/recertification, and operation of hazardous material (hazmat) response teams. The document details how employers of a hazmat team shall develop and implement a written emergency response plan and standard operating response procedures/guidelines. The document describes the required contents of the plan: (1) Personal Protective Equipment Program; (2) Medical Surveillance Program; (3) Training of Hazmat Team Members; (4) Hazmat Team Structure and Response; (5) Hazmat Team Dispatch and Response; (6) Incident Command System Structure; and (7) Hazmat Team Equipment List. In addition, the directive describes the Hazmat Team Certification Process, Maintenance of Certification, the Recertification Process, and Terms of Revocation of State Certification.
