FILM WHICH PRESENTS A SERIES OF DRAMATIZED TRANSACTIONS PORTRAYING SOME OF THE MOST COMMON CHECK-CASHING SWINDLES WHICH A BANK TELLER MIGHT COME ACROSS AND HOW TO DETECT THEM.
Abstract
THE CONDITIONS WHICH AFFECT A TELLER'S DECISION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT TO CASH A CHECK ARE REVIEWED. THEY ARE THAT THE CHECK MUST BE DRAWN ON THE TELLER'S BANK, IT MUST BE GENUINE AND VALID, THE DRAWER'S ACCOUNT MUST HAVE SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO COVER THE CHECK, AND THE ENDORSER MUST BE ADEQUATELY IDENTIFIED. THIS FILM SHOWS HOW CONFIDENCE MEN COUNT ON TELLERS TO IGNORE ONE OR MORE OF THESE CRITERIA AND CASH THE CHECK. VIEWERS ARE ASKED TO PUT THEMSELVES IN THE TELLER'S PLACE AND MAKE CASH OR REFER DECISIONS ABOUT EACH OF THE CASES. (FOR OTHER FILMS IN THIS SERIES, SEE NCJ-017099, 01700, AND 017101.)
