THIS PAPER BRIEFLY EXAMINES THE POSSIBLE SOCIAL CAUSES OF DELINQUENCY AND THE EXISTING METHODS OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY TREATMENT IN ENGLAND, AND PROPOSES NEW COMMUNITY-BASED METHODS OF DEALING WITH DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR ARGUES THAT A SCHOOL SYSTEM WHICH FOSTERS STUDENT PARTICIPATION, A NON-COMPETITIVE ATMOSPHERE, AND INCREASED STUDENT-TEACHER INTERACTION COULD AND IN THE CONTROL OF DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR. INCREASED COMMUNITY-LEVEL CONTROL OF GOVERNMENT, SOCIAL SERVICES, SCHOOLS, AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION IS ALSO URGED.
