THE COURT MANAGEMENT PROJECT WAS ORGANIZED BY THE BAR ASSOCIATION OF GREATER CLEVELAND TO ASSIST THE LOCAL JUSTICE AGENCIES IN IMPROVING THE MANAGEMENT OF THEIR OPERATIONS.
Abstract
THIS DOCUMENT IDENTIFIES EACH OF THE PROJECT'S PROGRAMS SINCE ITS INCEPTION, DISCUSSES THEIR CURRENT STATUS, AND INDICATES ANY RELATED FUTURE PLANS. PRIMARY EMPHASIS HAS BEEN PLACED UPON THE 1975 PROGRAM ACTIVITIES SINCE THESE HAVE NOT BEEN DISCUSSED IN PRIOR PROGRESS REPORTS. THE PRINCIPAL PROJECT AREAS DESCRIBED ARE INFORMATION SYSTEMS, GENERAL MANAGEMENT, AND JUDICIAL SYSTEM PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION THE PROJECT HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN A NUMBER OF OTHER AREAS, THESE BEING: INDIGENT DEFENSE, OPERATING COST ANALYSIS, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, PUBLIC INFORMATION, BAIL REFORM, CONTINUANCES, RIGHT TO COUNSEL, UNIFIED COURTS, JUDICIAL SYSTEM EVALUATION, AND JURY MANAGEMENT. THE MAIN PURPOSES OF THE PROJECT ARE TO REDUCE DOCKET DELAY; IMPROVE THE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION AMONG THE VARIOUS AGENCIES IN THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY JUSTICE COMMUNITY; AND IMPROVE THE PROCESS OF PLANNING, ALLOCATING, AND CONTROLLING THE RESOURCES OF THE JUSTICE SYSTEM.
