A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE STANDARD REFERENCE COLLECTION OF AUTOMOTIVE PAINT COLORS THAT IS BEING PREPARED BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT STANDARDS LABORATORY AND THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO FORENSIC LABORATORIES.
Abstract
THE FIRST COLLECTION CONSISTS OF 140 PAINT CHIPS FROM 1974 DOMESTIC CARS THAT WERE SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURERS. THE SAMPLES ARE PAINTED ON PIECES OF METAL ONE BY ONE AND ONE-HALF INCHES WHICH ARE HINGED AND MAY BE PLACED IN ANY ORDER IN THE MANUAL. EACH COLOR HAS THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION - TYPE OF PAINT (METALLIC OR NON-METALLIC), THE VINTAGE OF THE PAINT (NEW OR CARRIED OVER FROM A PREVIOUS YEAR), THE NAME OF THE MANUFACTURER AND HIS REFERENCE NUMBER FOR THE COLOR, AND THE MODELS ON WHICH IT WAS USED.
