Abstract
THIS THESIS DISCUSSES THE VALUE OF ONE MAN CAR PATROLS, REGULATIONS GOVERNING FLEET OPERATION, AND TRANSPORTATION CHANGES. IT CONSIDERS THE NUMBER OF POLICE CARS NECESSARY FOR ADEQUATE TRANSPORTATION, AND THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED, AS WELL AS VEHICLE PURCHASING, MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT. THE PROBLEM OF SUPERVISING THE POLICE FLEET, AUTOMOBILE ASSIGNMENT PROCEDURES, AND THE SPECIAL AND ACCESSORY EQUIPMENT WHICH SHOULD BE INSTALLED ON POLICE CARS ARE EXAMINED.
