Abstract
IN RECENT YEARS GREATER EMPHASIS HAS BEEN PLACED ON COMMUNITY-BASED TREATMENT AND CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS. THE TREATMENT ELEMENTS REPORTED INCLUDE - TREATMENT RELEVANT CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENDERS, TREATMENT SETTINGS AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS, CHARACTERISTICS OF STAFF WORKERS, CASELOAD SIZE, AND THERAPEUTIC METHODS. IN ADDITION, A NUMBER OF TOPICS ARE REVIEWED BRIEFLY, INCLUDING THE TREATMENT OF SPECIAL GROUPS, THE ORGANIZATION OF RESOURCES FOR TREATMENT, TREATMENTRELEVANT RESEARCH METHODOLOGY, ONGOING RESEARCH WITH TREATMENT IMPLICATIONS, AND INNOVATIVE TREATMENT PROGRAMS. THE PAPER CONCLUDES BY NOTING CURRENT THEMES AND TRENDS IN CORRECTIONAL TREATMENT RESEARCH. THE INFORMATION FOR THIS PAPER WAS CONTRIBUTED BY MORE THAN 100 INDIVIDUALS FROM 25 COUNTRIES.
