Length

This report presents and analyzes 1993 statistics for Canada's adult and juvenile corrections systems.
Abstract
With respect to adult corrections, data are limited to the average daily institutional count for all provincial, territorial, and Federal correctional facilities in Canada. these data pertain to "in-house" rather than "on-register" inmate counts. Data are provided for the 5-year period, April 1988 through March 1993. Data are broken down for the Provinces and Territories by the two inmate statuses: "sentenced/other" and "remand." The report also presents custody-count data and probation data on young offenders. Currently, data collection is limited to three data elements: average daily institutional count, month-end probation count, and month-end admissions.
