The international conference, based in Canada, focused on justice system costs and cost efficiency.
Abstract
Over 200 judges, lawyers, and academics met to discuss the cost of justice with representatives from all parts of Canada, England, the United States, Tanzania, and Barbados. The conference dealt with alternatives to courts, reduction in costs under the present system, legal aid, prepaid legal services, and increased efficiency in the law firm. This work provides a selection of the papers delivered at the conference. Topics include reducing litigation costs and delay for the American consumer, the cost efficiency of the courts, legal aid delivery systems in Quebec, and computers and the legal profession.
