Alaskan crime statistics for 1978 are presented in this annual report. The major data source used to measure crime trends and distribution was the Uniform Crime Reporing (UCR) Program.
          Abstract
The report gives statistics concerning criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assaults, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. Also highlighted are Alaska's rates versus national rates for crime, property stolen and recovered, Part II crimes, clearances, apprehensions, drug and alcohol-related arrests, and law enforcement officers killed or assaulted. Tables present statistics about yearly return of offenses known to the police, property by type and value; property stolen by class; and arrests by age, sex, and race for individual law enforcement agencies in Alaska. Also provided are graphs and pie charts.
