Abstract
THE BACKGROUND OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT PROBLEM IN ALBUQUERQUE IS SUMMARIZED AND INCLUDES A DESCRIPTION OF ETHNIC AND OTHER SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CITY. THE ANALYSIS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM CONTAINS AN OVERVIEW OF THE TWO MAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT UNITS IN METROPOLITAN ALBUQUERQUE AND OF THE MUNICIPAL COURT SYSTEM. THE EFFORTS OF THE PILOT CITIES PROGRAM IN ALBUQUERQUE ARE DIRECTED TOWARDS PROPERTY CRIME REDUCTION, EQUAL JUSTICE, IMPROVED SYSTEM-WIDE MANAGEMENT, AND CONTINUED RESEARCH AND EVALUATION.
