Abstract
THE TEXTUAL MATERIAL COVERS REASONS FOR ESTABLISING CRIMINAL LAWS TO PROTECT SOCIETY, VARIOUS CRIMES AND THEIR PUNISHMENTS, CRIMINAL PROCEDURE RIGHTS, AND AMERICA'S CRIME PROBLEM. THE TEXT IS DESIGNED NOT ONLY TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH ESSENTIAL INFORMATION BUT ALSO TO ENCOURAGE HIM TO GRAPPLE WITH ALTERNATIVES AND POSSIBLE RESOLUTIONS OF ISSUES. THE STUDENT IS ASKED TO EVALUATE THE SERIOUSNESS OF VARIOUS CRIMES IN AUTHENTIC AND FICTIONAL CASES AND TO PROPOSE WAYS OF REDUCING THEIR OCCURRENCE.
