Crimes associated with the computer network are rapidly increasing, and the emergence of international computer networks such as the Internet enables users in one country to engage in varied communications and transactions with other users all over the world.
Abstract
The increasing use of computer networks, however, provides more opportunities to commit various crimes and international cooperation must be strengthened to address computer-related crimes in the 21st century. Recognizing the need for international cooperation, the United Nations convened a Workshop on Crimes Related to the Computer Network in 1998. Papers were presented at the meeting that concerned specific forms of computer crimes, the investigation of computer crimes, economic and information issues related to computer networks and computer crimes, organized crime and global information infrastructures, international cooperation in the investigation of computer crimes, and legal systems and current practices concerning compulsory measures in the investigation of computer crimes.
