Abstract
Assessing the performance of Queensland, Australia’s Criminal Justice Commission (CJC) in regards to the goals of its strategic plan, this annual report assesses the Commission’s investigations, research, prevention and reform, and witness protection programs from July 2000 to 2001. Designed to provide a wide variety of information concerning the performance of the CJC during the indicated 1-year time period, this report begins by providing a year at a glance, a message from the Commission’s chairperson, a financial summary, and the CJC’s mission statement. Detailing the corporate governance of the CJC by highlighting its structure, management, and membership, this report includes many tables and photographs to express the CJC’s workplace standards and means for providing external accountability. Discussing the CJC’s major initiatives from July 2000 to June 2001, this report describes safeguarding schoolchildren, exposing licensing malpractices, policing, and drug prevention activities. The bulk of this report comprises a presentation of the CJC’s goals, outcomes, and plans for future years in regards to its investigations, research, prevention and reform progress, and witness protection programs. A detailed look at the CJC’s corporate structure precedes a series of appendices listing the functions and responsibilities of the CJC, its strategic plan for 2001 to 2005, EEO statistics, legal cases, publications, presentations, travel summaries, and financial statements.
