Abstract
THE OPERATION OF SEVERAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACTIVITIES IN DADE COUNTY IS DISCUSSED AND EVALUATED. PRE-TRIAL RELEASE AND THE COMMITTING MAGISTRATE SYSTEM, THE PLEA BARGAINING SYSTEM, AND SENTENCING ARE CONSIDERED IN DETAIL. UNDER DEFENSE AND PROSECUTION, THE ROLE OF COUNSEL IN DADE COUNTY, THE RESOURCES TO IMPLEMENT THE RIGHT TO COUNSEL, THE OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC DEFENDER, AND THE OFFICE OF THE STATE ATTORNEY ARE PRESENTED, ALONG WITH APPROPRIATE RECOMMENDATIONS. FINALLY, THE JUVENILE COURT AND COURT SERVICES ARE ANALYZED AND SUGGESTIONS CONCERNING THESE COURTS ARE MADE.
