The techniques a bail agent uses are defined, and statistics are presented to demonstrate mathematically how bail agents are supervised and how they operate.
Abstract
A bail agent who supervises 248 defendants out of jail on bond saves the county $40 a day jail costs and allows the defendant to keep his or her job and to pay the legal fees of a private attorney. The bail agent works at no cost to the taxpayer. According to a report on felony pretrial release methods of bail published by the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Statistics, professional bail agents have the best appearance rate, fugitive rate, and recidivism rate compared to any other type of bail bonds including publicly funded pretrial release agencies.
