THE STUDY ANALYZES THE BROAD BACKGROUND INFORMATION PRESENTED BY THE PROBATION OFFICER IN HIS PRESENTENCE INVESTIGATION REPORT, WITH CONCENTRATION ON THE FOUR MAJOR RECOMMENDATIONS HE MAY MAKE - PROBATION, INSTITUTIONALIZATION, PSYCHIATRIC EXAMINATION, OR DISCHARGE.
