Abstract
THE AUTHORS PROVIDE A DESCRIPTION OF THE OVERALL DESIGN OF THE STUDY, INCLUDING SAMPLE CHARACTERISTICS, INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTIONS, MAJOR COMPARISONS AND STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES. A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE QUESTIONS, SAMPLES, INSTRUMENTS, AND TECHNIQUES OF ANALYSIS UTILIZED IN THE EVALUATION ARE INCLUDED FOLLOWED BY A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURES INVOLVED FOR EACH INSTRUMENT. THE SECOND HALF OF THE DOCUMENT CONTAINS DATA TABLES WHICH ILLUSTRATE MAJOR FINDINGS OF THE STUDY AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL DATA WHICH WAS NOT FELT TO BE SUFFICIENTLY IMPORTANT TO BE CONTAINED IN THE MAJOR FINDINGS. THE TABLES ARE PRESENTED BY TOPIC AREAS WHICH INCLUDE COMPARISONS OF THE DEMOGRAPHIC AND PERSONAL HISTORY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE OFFICERS UNDER STUDY, PARTNER AND OFFICER-CITIZEN RELATIONSHIPS, PERFORMANCE MEASURES (CITIZEN, OBSERVER, AND POLICE MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE), AND COMMUNITY AND POLICE ATTITUDES TOWARD WOMEN ON PATROL.
