HOMICIDE IN DETROIT, WITH FOCUS ON THE CITY'S GHETTO, WHERE MOST OF DETROIT'S MURDERS TAKE PLACE.
Abstract
DETROIT'S HOMICIDE RATE IS THE HIGHEST OF ANY AMERICAN CITY WITH A POPULATION ABOVE ONE MILLION. THE AUTHOR STATES THAT MOST EXPLANATIONS OF MURDER CENTER ON THE STRAIN OF GHETTO LIFE. THE POTENTIAL FOR FATAL VIOLENCE IS ALSO INCREASED BY THE MOUNTING NUMBER OF WEAPONS SINCE THE DETROIT RIOTS OF 1967. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
