GUIDELINES AND POLICIES IN THE USE OF FIREARMS BY THE POLICE SEEN AS RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.
Abstract
CHIEF OF THE WASHINGTON DC POLICE DEPARTMENT EXPLAINED THE REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE USE OF FIREARMS IN DC AS REVISED IN JANUARY, 1969. HE FEELS THAT EVERY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY WHICH ARMS ITS PERSONNEL SHOULD REQUIRE A WRITTEN REPORT OF EVERY USE OF A SERVICE WEAPON AND SHOULD ESTABLISH SOME FORM OF REVIEW OF EACH SUCH USE, WHICH INSURES THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONSISTENT DEPARTMENTAL POLICY REGARDING USE OF SERVICE WEAPONS.
