REVIEW OF A SEMINAR COURSE OFFERED TO OFFICERS OF THE PASSAIC, NJ POLICE DEPARTMENT TO GIVE THEM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE IN AIDING AND INTERVIEWING VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIMES, PARTICULARLY OF VIOLENT SEX CRIMES.
Abstract
BASED ON A BELIEF THAT THE RESPONSE OF THE FIRST AUTHORITY FIGURE ON THE SCENE OF A CRISIS HAS TREMENDOUS IMPACT ON THE OUTCOME OF THAT SITUATION, THE COURSE STRESSES THE NEED FOR UNDERSTANDING THE VICTIM'S EXPERIENCES AND TYPICAL REACTIONS THROUGHOUT THE CRISIS. WHEN POSSIBLE THE SEMINAR INCLUDES A VIOLENT CRIME VICTIM. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
