COMPARATIVE STUDY OF 400 DELINQUENT AND NON DELINQUENT GIRLS IN GREAT BRITAIN BASED ON A COMPUTER ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND INDIVIDUAL DATA.
Abstract
SOME 350 FACTORS IN THE LIVES OF DELINQUENT AND NON DELINQUENT ADOLESCENT GIRLS WERE DEFINED AND ISOLATED. FACTORS INCLUDED BIOGRAPHICAL DATA SUCH AS SEPARATION FROM PARENTS, INDIVIDUAL DATA SUCH AS DEGREE OF INTELLIGENCE, AND SOCIOECONOMIC DATA SUCH AS SOCIAL CLASS. COMPUTER ANALYSIS OF VARIOUS CONFIGURATIONS OF DATA REVEALED THAT SOME FACTORS WERE DEFINITELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE OCCURRENCE OF DELINQUENCY. FAMILY PATTERNS OF THE GIRLS WERE EXAMINED MOST THOROUGHLY, AS CRUCIAL TO A STUDY OF DEVIANCY. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WAS GIVEN TO A STUDY OF THE DISCIPLINE AND AFFECTION OF THE PARENTS FOR THE GIRL.
