Abstract
THE LEGAL LIMITS PLACED ON DEMONSTRATIONS ARE DISCUSSED, INCLUDING THE CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER RULE, THE LIKELIHOOD OF VIOLENCE RESULTING FROM LAWFUL SPEECH, PARADES, AND THE RESTRICTING OF DEMONSTRATIONS IN PARTICULAR AREAS. SITUATIONS INVOLVING PICKETING ARE EXAMINED, WITH ATTENTION PAID TO THE LEGAL RIGHT TO PICKET IN A REASONABLE MANNER. SOME PRINCIPLES OF RIOT CONTROL ARE OUTLINED ALONG WITH LAWS RELATING TO RIOTS, AND SOME POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS FOR THEIR OCCURRENCE.
