AFTER DISCUSSING THE POSSIBLE METHODS OF WEAPONS DETECTION AND THE NECESSARY FEATURES OF SUCH A SYSTEM, THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THE ELECTROMAGNETIC METHODS OF FIREARMS DETECTION AND DEVICES USING THESE METHODS.
Abstract
SUCH METHODS OF FIREARMS DETECTION AS INFRARED UNITS, USE OF X-RAYS, ECHO OR HOLOGRAPHIC METHODS AND GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY ARE EXAMINED. THE AUTHORS CONCLUDE THAT OF ALL THE METHODS EXAMINED TO DATE, THE MOST FEASIBLE METHOD INVOLVES THE USE OF LOW FREQUENCY MAGNETIC FIELDS. APPLICATIONS OF LOW FREQUENCY ALTERNATING CURRENT METHODS TO GUN DETECTION ARE OUTLINED. FINALLY, RESULTS OF OPERATIONAL TESTS OF TWO FREQUENCY GUN DETECTORS ARE PRESENTED.
