INDEXED LISTING OF THE AUTOMATED CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS USED BY POLICE, COURTS, CORRECTIONS AND OTHER AGENCIES.
Abstract
WITH THE RECENT GROWTH OF TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT IN ELECTRONIC DATA PROCESSING COMES AN INCREASING NEED FOR COORDINATION AND ECONOMY OF EFFORT. EACH LISTING BRIEFLY DESCRIBES SYSTEMS WHICH ARE OPERATIONAL OR BEING DEVELOPED, WHO IS DOING THE WORK AND THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE SYSTEMS. APPROXIMATELY 454 SEPARATELY DEFINED SYSTEMS ARE REPRESENTED. THE DIRECTORY WILL AID PEOPLE WORKING WITH CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS TO ESTABLISH COMMUNICATIONS WITH EACH OTHER. IT IS SET UP TO IDENTIFY AND DESCRIBE ALL OF THE SPECIFIC CRIMINAL FUNCTIONS BEING SERVED BY VARIOUS INFORMATION SYSTEMS. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE INFORMATION, GENERAL FINANCIAL DATA AND OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT EACH SYSTEM ARE INCLUDED. THE NAMES OF CONTACTS WHO CAN PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION ARE LISTED FOR EACH SYSTEM. THE READER INTERESTED IN IDENTIFYING OTHER PROJECTS SIMILAR TO HIS OWN CAN USE THE DIRECTORY TO PERFORM A PRELIMINARY SCREENING OF POSSIBLE SYSTEMS AND OBTAIN DETAILED INFORMATION FROM THE CONTACTS GIVEN.
