This directory presents descriptions of more than 350 automated criminal justice information systems used by the police, the public prosecutor’s office, the courts, the correctional agencies, and other criminal justice agencies in Canada, Europe, Australasia, Asia, and Latin America.
Abstract
The directory aims to assist criminal justice professionals in the development, enhancement, or transfer of criminal justice information and statistical systems. It also aims to aid criminal justice agencies of similar size and information processing needs to identify and transfer existing information and statistical applications. The directory briefly describes the criminal justice information systems that are operational or are being developed, indicates the status of the system’s application, and provides contact names and address. Each profile lists the country, system name, acronym, status, area served, hardware, and software and provides a system description and comments. Listings are grouped into law enforcement, prosecution, courts, corrections, youth protection, criminal record systems, statistics, and comprehensive systems. The directory concludes with a form on which to provide updated and corrected information about a system. It also includes a country index organized alphabetically, first by region and then by country, and a system name index that lists each information system alphabetically by name.
