A PROJECT TO REDUCE DEATH AND INJURIES ON THE ROADS AND HIGHWAYS OF CALIFORNIA AND THE U.S.
Abstract
INJURY PRODUCING CRASHES FREQUENTLY INVOLVE USE OF ALCOHOL. THE SPECIFIC PROJECT GOALS ARE DEVELOPMENT OF A PREDICTION CAPABILITY TO IDENTIFY DRIVER'S LICENSE APPLICANTS APT TO BECOME CONVICTED DRUNK DRIVERS, CONVICTED DRUNK DRIVERS APT TO RECIDIVATE, AND DRIVERS LIKELY TO BE INVOLVED IN CRASHES WITH FATALITIES OR SERIOUS INJURIES, IDENTIFICATION OF COUNTERMEASURES OR REHABILITATION PROCEDURES WHICH WILL REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF DRUNK DRIVING AND, THE INCIDENCE OF CRASH INVOLVEMENT, AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING INTEGRATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE PROJECT INTO THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND JUDICIAL PROCESSES OF THE GOVERNMENT.
