Abstract
IN 1955-56 THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION AND THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION APPOINTED A JOINT COMMITTEE ON NARCOTIC DRUGS TO EXPLORE THE PROBLEM OF NARCOTICS ADDICTION. THIS VOLUME CONTAINS THE COMMITTEE'S INTERIM REPORT, WITH ITS TWO LENGTHY APPENDIXES, AND A FINAL REPORT. APPENDIX A OF THE INTERIM REPORT DEALS WITH SOME OF THE BASIC PROBLEMS IN DRUG ADDICTION AND MAKES SUGGESTIONS FOR APPROPRIATE RESEARCH. APPENDIX B CONSISTS OF AN APPRAISAL OF INTERNATIONAL, BRITISH, AND SELECTED EUROPEAN NARCOTIC DRUG LAWS, REGULATIONS, AND POLICIES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
