This document presents statistics on drug seizures and drug offenders in each police agency geographical area in the United Kingdom in 1997.
Abstract
The document includes maps that show drug seizures per million population by police geographic area and the percentage change in the number of drug seizures from year to year. Tables on drug seizures report on the seizures of controlled drugs by police agencies or other organizations and the rates of seizure of controlled drugs by police agencies each year during 1987-97. They also present data on the rates of seizures and the quantities of controlled drugs seized by drug type. The drug offender tables cover the numbers of drug offenders by year; the cautioning/compounding rates for drug law offenses by police agencies or other authorities; the drug offenders by type of offense; the proportion of drug offenders cautioned in each police geographic area; and the rates of warnings, convictions, compoundings, fines, and immediate custody. See NCJ 179456 for statistical bulletin, and NCJ 179457 for supplementary table. Maps and tables
