STUDY OF THE REACTIONS OF OFF-DUTY PATROLMEN, DETECTIVES, AND RECRUITS TO SITUATIONS INVOLVING A PERSON IN APPARENT NEED OF HELP.
Abstract
THE OBJECT OF THE EXPERIMENT WAS TO SEE IF THE OCCUPATION OF POLICEMEN ACTUALLY PREDISPOSED THESE MEN TO HELP OTHERS. THE STUDY DEMONSTRATED THAT OFF-DUTY POLICEMEN, BOTH RECRUITS AND REGULAR POLICE, WERE EQUALLY LIKELY TO OFFER AID.
