A BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF CADET EDUCATION APPEARS IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS PAPER. THEN, THE EDUCATIONAL AIMS THAT VARY AMONG POLICE FORCES ARE ANALYZED. INFORMATION REGARDING COURSE ORGANIZATION AND TIME SPENT ON EDUCATION IS COVERED. CURRICULA USED IN TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE INVESTIGATED, AND EXAMPLES OF SOME COURSE PROGRAMS ARE CONSIDERED. SOME OF THE SECTIONS CONTAIN TABLES EXPLAINING THE TOPICS. THE CONCLUDING SECTION OF THE PAPER MEASURES SUCCESS RATES AND SOME OF THE FACTORS AFFECTING THEM.
