BASED ON THE TRIAL COURT MANAGEMENT SERIES VOLUMES ON FINANCIAL, PERSONNEL, AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT, THESE WORKSHOP MATERIALS CONSIST OF HYPOTHETICAL PROBLEMS COMMONLY ENCOUNTERED BY LOCAL COURTS.
Abstract
COMPLEMENTING EACH EXERCISE IS THE PRESENTATION OF THE HYPOTHETICAL PROBLEM WITH BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE COURT SYSTEM DEPICTED, GENERAL SUGGESTIONS FOR APPROACHING THE PROBLEM, AND DISCUSSION GUIDELINES FOR WORKSHOP LEADERS. THESE LEADERS DESCRIBE THE ISSUES AND THE BASIC FORMAT EACH WORKSHOP SHOULD TAKE. THOSE SECTIONS OF THE TRIAL COURT MANAGEMENT VOLUMES WHICH ARE RELEVANT TO THE PROBLEMS PRESENTED ARE INDICATED IN EACH EXERCISE. THE EXERCISES PRESENTED INCLUDE (1) A HYPOTHETICAL BUDGET PROBLEM FOR A JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COMPRISING A FIVE-JUDGE CIRCUIT COURT AND A FIVE-JUDGE DISTRICT COURT, (2) A HYPOTHETICAL PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL INTERVIEW PROBLEM BETWEEN A COURT ADMINISTRATOR AND ASSIGNMENT CLERK, (3) A HYPOTHETICAL RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROBLEM INVOLVING MANAGEMENT OF CASE-RELATED RECORDS IN A SUPERIOR COURT, AND (4) ANOTHER RECORDS MANAGEMENT PROBLEM INVOLVING SPACE CONSIDERATIONS AND RECORDS DISPOSITION IN A COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE.
