Annotation
An annotated 144-item bibliography and a 205-item unannotated bibliography cover materials on elder abuse and neglect written since 1975; a directory provides the names, addresses, and phone numbers for organizations serving older persons.
Abstract
In selecting the material, abuse was defined as an act that results in psychological, sociological, biological, or legal harm to the older person; neglect was defined as the omission of an act of essential care that results in psychological, sociological, biological, or legal harm to the oder person. The annotated bibliography lists books, book chapters, journal articles, popular press articles, investigative-committee reports, hearings, conference proceedings, prepared statements, testimonies, research reports, monographs, pamphlets, plays, professional papers, and unpublished manuscripts. The unannotated bibliography contains a selected professional bibliography, newspaper articles, and State and Federal publications. The outline for the annotations encompasses topic, objectives, methods, findings, and conclusion. The appendix contains a model Adult Protective Services Act; an author index is provided.
