This sourcebook, a comprehensive reference of emergency services, is designed to assist fire, law enforcement, hazardous material handling, disaster, search and rescue, industrial life safety, and loss control personnel.
Abstract
The sourcebook makes it easier to contact government agencies, associations, training and academic instructors, department heads, authors, editors, and other knowledgeable specialists. It also simplifies the search for publications, audiovisuals, and computer software to meet particular requirements. Volume I of the sourcebook has three main sections: training and academic programs, associations and information centers, and government agencies. The sourcebook lists more than 3,000 institutions and organizations that provide about 10,000 emergency programs and courses. Training and academic programs are listed by State, and programs offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Center for State and Local Law Enforcement Training are noted. Organizations offering training and academic programs are indexed according to 150 subject categories. National associations and information centers involved in emergency services are identified, as well as local, State, and Federal agencies. Volume II of the sourcebook lists more than 2,000 periodicals on emergency services, more than 4,600 books and audiovisuals, and about 850 computer software entries, and contains information on library networks related to fire, medical, and criminal justice topics. Indexes to the periodicals, books, audiovisuals, and computer software packages are also included.
