          Abstract
The volume aims to aid understanding of the problem of serial homicide and to aid in the development of workable solutions to the problem. The preface notes that the case histories are examples of specific serial killer types, motivations, nationalities, and other characteristics, because the more than 1,500 serial killers on record renders comprehensive coverage of every case unfeasible. The profiles detail the crimes, what is known about the individual’s childhood and family, the investigation and prosecution of the murderer, and the sentence. Photographs; appended summaries of the histories of all known solo killers, team killers, and unsolved cases; index, and approximately 300 references
