Abstract
A DEFENDANT RAISES THE DEFENSE OF ENTRAPMENT WHEN THE ACTIONS OF A POLICE OFFICER OR GOVERNMENT AGENT INDUCED HIM TO ENGAGE IN UNLAWFUL CONDUCT IN WHICH HE OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE ENGAGED. JUDICIAL DECISIONS EXEMPLIFY THE DEFENSE OF ENTRAPMENT IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS - EXTENT OF AGENT'S DIRECT PARTICIPATION, USE OF TAPE RECORDERS AND RADIO TRANSMITTERS TO MONITOR CONVERSATIONS, SELECTION OF SUBJECTS, CRIMINAL LIABILITY OF AGENTS AND INFORMANTS, SELECTION AND CONDUCT OF INFORMANTS, AND CONDUCT OF THIRD PERSONS. SEE NCJ-009097 FOR PART 1 OF THIS ARTICLE.
